Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
Inaka Desk ("we", "us") is an independent editorial travel site operated from Japan. This policy explains what data we collect when you visit https://inakadesk.com, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Server logs (hosting). Our host, Cloudflare, automatically processes technical data such as your IP address and browser user-agent to serve the site securely and reliably.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used (pages viewed, approximate region, device type). It loads only after you consent, and IP addresses are anonymized.
- Advertising. We use Google AdSense to display ads. Ad cookies load only after you consent and may be used to show personalized or non-personalized ads.
- Affiliate links. Some outbound links are affiliate links. Clicking one may pass a referral identifier to the partner so they can credit a referral. See our Affiliate Disclosure. Partners handle your data under their own policies.
We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not collect it to build profiles ourselves.
Cookies & consent
Essential cookies are needed to run the site and remember your privacy choice. Analytics and advertising cookies are disabled by default and load only after you opt in (we use Google Consent Mode v2, which starts with all non-essential storage set to denied). Where consent is legally required (EU/EEA, UK, and similar regions) we show a consent banner. You can change your choice any time via Cookie settings.
Legal bases (GDPR / UK GDPR)
- Consent — for analytics and advertising cookies. You may withdraw it at any time.
- Legitimate interests — for basic security and reliability logging by our host.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent. EU/UK residents may also lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority. To exercise any right, contact us (below).
California rights & "Do Not Sell or Share"
We do not sell your personal information for money. However, using third-party advertising cookies may count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law (CPRA). You can opt out at any time by declining advertising in Cookie settings (this is our "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" mechanism), or by using a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser.
International transfers & retention
Service providers such as Google and Cloudflare may process data on servers outside your country under their own safeguards. Aggregate analytics data is retained per Google's settings; we keep no separate personal database.
Children
This site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 16.
Changes
We may update this policy; the "Last updated" date above reflects the latest version.
